Strengthening Pathways for Youth Entrepreneurship in Antigua & Barbuda - MOU Signing

The Antigua & Barbuda Youth Business Trust (ABYBT) is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with St. John’s Cooperative Credit Union, marking an important step forward in strengthening the support ecosystem for young entrepreneurs in Antigua and Barbuda.

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to empowering the next generation of business leaders through structured training, mentorship, and practical entrepreneurial development.

As part of this collaboration, the Credit Union has generously sponsored a number of applicants to participate in Cycle 1 of the ABYBT EmpowerED Entrepreneurship Training Programme, providing young innovators with access to the tools, knowledge, and guidance needed to transform ideas into viable businesses.

The EmpowerED Programme is designed to help participants build strong entrepreneurial foundations by strengthening skills in business planning, financial management, innovation, and market development, while also connecting them with networks and mentorship that support long-term business sustainability.

ABYBT extends sincere appreciation to the leadership of St. John’s Cooperative Credit Union for their commitment to investing in youth potential and contributing to the development of a more vibrant entrepreneurial landscape in Antigua and Barbuda.

Speaking at the signing, Chairman Jerry DaC Blenman, alongside Deputy Chairman Vernon A. Springer and Director and Patron Apostle Dr. Stephen Andrews, reaffirmed ABYBT’s belief that strong partnerships are essential to unlocking opportunities for young people and building a thriving culture of entrepreneurship across the nation.

In her remarks, the General Manager of St. John’s Cooperative Credit Union, Miss Peta-Gay Rodney, Bsc, MBA, CAMS, noted that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is a testament to the institution’s enduring commitment and vision to serve as the premier financial institution dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of its members, their families, and the wider community. She emphasized that supporting initiatives such as the EmpowerED Entrepreneurship Training Programme reflects the Credit Union’s belief that investing in youth entrepreneurship is a meaningful pathway to building stronger communities and a more resilient national economy.

Through collaborations such as this, ABYBT continues to advance its mission of equipping young people with the knowledge, confidence, and support systems required to start, grow, and sustain successful enterprises.

Together, we are helping to shape a future where youth entrepreneurship drives innovation, opportunity, and sustainable economic growth in Antigua and Barbuda.
